Meet Expenses and Fees each family is responsible for:
Travel, food and lodging: Most of our meets will be up in the Chicagoland or Milwaukee area. Some of our away meets will require hotel stays in order for the divers to be at the pool early in the morning for warm-ups. Sometimes there is an open warm-up the night before the meet that we will take advantage of to familiarize the divers with the boards and the facility as well as to get extra practice in before the meet. Divers are expected to be at these open warm-ups to ensure the safest and best diving experience for them.
Events fees: Event fees are charged by the host team for each event your diver competes in. Typically those events are 1 meter, 3 meter and synchronized springboard events. We do not currently or plan to train for platform events. These fees can vary between $15 and $40 depending on the price set by the host team.
AAU and USA Diving membership: We compete in both AAU and USA Diving (abbreviated as USD) sanctioned meets. Each of these organizations requires every diver to be a member before they are allowed to dive in a meet sanctioned by them. Your Redbird Diving Club Annual Club Fee covers membership in AAU Diving. USA Diving membership is a separate annual fee. The basic "Athlete" membership is $43 and this allows divers to compete in all regular USD invite meets. However to compete in any championship level (such as Regionals) or higher meets, divers will need to be at the "Competition Athlete" level which is $203. Memberships can be upgraded, so if the diver is already a basic "athlete" member the difference between the two can be paid to take them up to full Competition Athlete membership.
Coaches Fees:
In order to pay expenses incurred by the coaching staff for meets, the club charges a coaching fee to each family. These fees are:
Away meets:
One day meet - $30
Two day meet - $50
Max family charge (if you have more than one diver competing) - $75
Home meets:
$15 per day
National level Meets:
Our RDC hosted meets and fundraising efforts throughout the year will be used to help defray the coaches travel costs for National level meets. Expenses that cannot to covered by these funds will be socialized to families that are attending to a maximum of no more than $125.
